Dec. 11, 2001
San Diego State running back Larry Ned capped a brilliant 2001 individual campaign Monday being named Associated Press All-America second-team.
Ned joins Marshall Faulk (1991, '92 and '93 first-team) and George Jones (1995 second-team) as the third Aztec running back to earn AP All-America honors in the last decade.
San Diego State's No. 2 rusher all time, Ned finished his Aztec career with 3,562 yards rushing including 1,549 yards during 2001 alone. In fact, his 2001 rushing total ranks as the third best single-season performance in SDSU history and gave him the nation's third-best per-game average this year.
Ned also finished his career with the school record for carries in a single game, grinding out 47 rushes in the season finale versus Wyoming, and ranks fifth all time in scoring with 216 points, including 15 touchdowns this season.
