Nov. 9, 2001

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's volleyball team did what seemed to be the impossible. They beat No. 14 Utah in five games with scores of 30-27, 25-30, 23-30, 32-30, 15-13. The Utes are the first ranked team that the Aztecs have beaten this year. Four Aztecs finished the match with double digit kills including, Aspen McPartland with 11 kills, Zlatina Anguelova with 13 kills and Katie Magnuson with 14 kills. Magnuson notched another double-double with 21 digs.

San Diego State hit for a .160 clip with 58 kills and 12 total team blocks versus Utah's 81 kills and 16 total team blocks for a .318 hitting percentage.

The Mountain West Conference has seen an interesting night of volleyball that has everyone looking at the standings. Earlier in the night UNLV beat BYU dropping the Cougars to an even pairing in conference with the Aztecs. Tomorrow's match will decide who will take third and who will take fourth going into the Mountian West Conference Tournament next week.

The Aztecs will face BYU tomorrow at 5 p.m. in Peterson Gym.
