SAN DIEGO (AP) - Tony Bland scored 20 points and Randy Holcomb had 15 to lead San Diego State to a 98-53 win over UC San Diego on Tuesday night.
San Diego State (3-2) left little doubt about the outcome against its Division II opponent, taking a 57-30 halftime lead. The Aztecs, who shot 67.8 percent from the floor, hit 75 percent (24-32) from the field in the first half.
Bland, who hit 7-of-9 shots and all six free throws, scored 20 points or more for the fifth straight time. The last time an Aztec player accomplished that feat was in 1986 when Anthony Watson reached the mark in six straight games.
The Aztecs also dominated the boards, outrebounding the shorter Tritons, 36-22.
UC San Diego (1-2) was led by Jody Woods' 13 points.
