Aztec Volleyball Beats UNLV, 3-2

LAS VEGAS - The San Diego State women's volleyball team won its first five-game match of the season against the UNLV Rebels at Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas tonight. The Aztecs won by scores of 31-29, 20-30, 30-27, 25-30, 15-11.

SDSU finished the night with two players tallying double-doubles. Senior Katie Magnuson registered 17 kills and 14 digs, while sophomore Zlatina Anguelova totaled 17 kills and 11 digs in five games.

Junior setter Melissa Wright tallied 49 assists and sophomore Robyn Gregg cashed in on a match-high five service aces.

The Aztecs finished the match with 61 kills and ten total team blocks for a .142 clip versus the Rebels 73 kills 17 total team blocks and .228 hitting percentage.

The Aztecs return to San Diego for their final home appearance of the 2001 season with a Friday match against Utah at 7 p.m. and a Saturday match against the Cougars of BYU at 7 p.m.
