Aztec Volleyball Loses To UNLV In MWC Tournament

PROVO, Utah - The San Diego State women's volleyball team suffered a first-round loss to UNLV in the Mountain West Conference Tournament on Thursday with games of 26-30, 30-27, 22-30, 30-22, 5-15.The loss to the Rebels was the first for the Aztecs since 1998.

Three Aztecs hit in double digits. Junior Rochelle Currier finished the night with 12 kills, sophomores Aspen McPartland and Zlatina Anguelova tallied 14 and 16 kills, respectively.

San Diego State posted 65 kills with a .113 hitting clip and eight total team blocks. UNLV finished with 60 kills for a .200 hitting percentage and 13 total blocks.

The Aztecs travel to Tucson,Ariz., Nov. 23-24 for the University of Arizona Tournament.

All-Mountain West Honors -- Senior Katie Magnuson and sophomore Robyn Gregg were named to the 2001 Mountain West team. Magnuson enters the tournament with 252 kills and a team-leading 230 digs. She also leads the team with 10 double-doubles. Gregg was a force at the line with a conference record 40 service aces in league play, shattering the old MWC record of 26 (Kristen Vance, CSU, 1999)
