SAN DIEGO - San Diego State junior Silvia Tornier claimed the singles title at the Aztec Tennis Invitational on Sunday with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Cheryl Mallaiah of Kansas.
The Jayhawk duo of Kristen and Courtney Steinbock kept Tornier from sweeping the singles and doubles crown, by defeating her and teammate Lindsey Hedberg in the championship match 8-3.
The tournament concludes the fall season for the Aztecs. San Diego State will begin dual-match play on Jan. 26 with a home match against Cal Poly.
