Travis Hasson's Run at ITA Prequalifying Tourney Comes to an End

SAN DIEGO - Bowling Green's Geoff Hiscox defeated San Diego State's Travis Hasson 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-3 in the fourth round of pre-qualifying at the ITA All-American Championship at the Lincoln Tennis Center in Stone Mountain, Ga.

Hasson was attempting to join teammate Oliver Maiberger in the main draw when the first grand slam of the college tennis season gets underway on Oct. 11. The prequalifying tournaments consists of 256 singles players and 128 doubles teams from 62 schools playing for eight spots in the qualifying tournament which begins on Tuesday.

Hasson advanced to the final 32 before being eliminating on Sunday. He advanced to the fourth round by defeating Richard Turner of Birmingham Southern 6-3, 6-2 in the first round and R.J. Murray of North Carolina State 6-4, 6-2 in the second round. On Saturday, Hasson advanced to the fourth round with a third-set tiebreak-victory over Louisville's Joachim Lien 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (3).

In addition to Hasson, San Diego State's Ryan Redondo also played in the prequalifying, advancing to the third round before falling to South Alabama's Zlatko Stupausky 6-4, 6-4 on Saturday. Hasson did not lose a set in his first two victories and lost just 10 games prior to Saturday's third-round match.
