SAN DIEGO (AP) - Larry Ned rushed for a career-high 285 yards and three touchdowns as San Diego State broke a seven-game home losing streak with a 40-7 win over Eastern Illinois on Saturday night.
Ned carried the ball 30 times before sitting out the fourth quarter. His rushing total was the fourth-best in school history, behind Marshall Faulk's three most prolific performances.
The last home victory for the Aztecs (2-3) came in the final game of the 1999 season, a 38-7 win over Wyoming.
The Panthers (3-1) scored their only points on Tony Romo's 65-yard touchdown pass to Andre Raymond. Eastern Illinois had been averaging 36 points and nearly 400 yards per game.
The Aztecs led 17-7 at halftime. Ned, who had a 5-yard TD run in the first half, scored twice in the third quarter as the Aztecs pulled away.
Ned's 9-yard touchdown run gave San Diego State a 26-7 lead with 5:12 left in the third quarter. He added a 10-yard touchdown less than two minutes later following Will Demps' interception and return to the Panthers' 20.
J.R Tolver caught eight passes for 137 yards, including touchdown receptions of 40 and 21 yards. Tommy Kirovski added field goals of 22 and 23 yards for the Aztecs.
