SDSU Men's Soccer Suffers Halloween Loss To CSU Fullerton

FULLERTON, Calif. - Playing in its third-straight double overtime match Wednesday, the San Diego State men's soccer team lost 3-2 to CSU Fullerton at Titan Stadium under a Halloween night full moon. The loss snapped a four match unbeaten streak for the Aztecs and gave the Titans their second straight victory.

Fullerton (7-7-1) won the match at the 106:56 mark when Cameron McKinnon found his way through traffic, putting the ball in the net.

SDSU (7-7-3) was the first team to score, with freshman Patrick Strait getting his fourth goal of the season at the 36:48 mark. Strait headed in a pass from sophomore Ryan Curtis, the assist was Curtis' second of the year.

The Aztecs had their shutout spoiled at 72:53 and the Titans took the lead with another goal at 81:37.

SDSU freshman Greg Kaplan quicked knotted the score on an unassisted goal at 84:21. Kaplan finished a junk ball in the box that was scored past a diving Fullerton goalkeeper. The score gave Kaplan his first goal and first points of the season.

SDSU's two goals came on only seven shots, five of which were on goal. Fullerton took a total of 22 shots, 12 on goal.

Aztec senior goalkeeper Tim Edwards handled the Titans offensive charge well, being credited with nine saves in the outing. He played all 106:56 of the contest.

SDSU next plays at Mountain Pacific Sports Federation foe CSU Sacramento on Sunday at 3 p.m. The Aztecs and Hornets are tied for the league's second-place spot with identical 3-2-1 records in league play.
