SDSU Men's Soccer Picks Up Another League Win

FRESNO, Calif. - The San Diego State men's soccer team improved its record Sunday to 6-6-2 overall and 2-1-1 in league play defeating Mountain Pacific Sports Federation foe Fresno State, 2-0. The win is the Aztecs fourth shutout this season, the second in conference play, and moves them to .500 for the third time this year.

The Aztecs first scored at the 15:14 mark when freshman Anthony Zoric headed in a pass from senior Enrique Tovar. The goal was Zoric's second of the year.

SDSU chipped in an insurance goal early in the second half when sophomore Kevin Sapanli connected on a cross from Tovar at 46:09. Sophomore Jon Povey also received credit for the assist.

Aztec senior goalkeeper Tim Edwards picked up his second shutout of the season and third of his career in the outing. Edwards moves to 3-1-2 on the year.

SDSU returns home for a pair of MPSF matches next weekend. The team faces UNLV at 4 p.m. on Friday and New Mexico on Sunday at 2 p.m. All home matches are played at the SDSU Sports Deck.
