SDSU Spikers Beat New Mexico In Four

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's volleyball team beat the New Mexico Lobos, 3-1, tonight at Peterson Gym. The win gives the Aztecs an 11-7 overall record and 5-3 in the Mountain West. The Lobos drop to 3-14 overall and 1-7 in conference. State beat the Lobos 30-21, 26-30, 30-19, 30-28.

Four Aztecs finished the match with double-digit kills. Junior Nicole Akporiaye and sophomore Aspen McPartland totaled 11 kills each while sophomore Zlatina Anguelova registered a team-high 22 kills. Senior Katie Magnuson added another double-double to the list with 14 kills and 14 digs. Junior Melissa Wright tallied four kills and 52 assists versus New Mexico.

Anna Reines and Malena Thompson led the Lobos with 22 and 17 kills, respectively.

The Aztecs hit a .311 with 68 kills and eight total blocks versus New Mexico's .357 clip, 63 kills and eight team blocks.

The Aztecs return to action tomorrow with a home match against the Air Force Falcons at 7 p.m. in Peterson Gym.
