NEW ORLEANS - The San Diego State women's volleyball team rebounded after its first loss of the season to SMU and beat Tulane 3-0 in the final game of the Kathy Trosclair Tournament in New Orleans. The Aztecs swept the Green Wave with games of 32-30, 30-13 and 30-15.
Sophomore Zlatina Anguelova was named tournament MVP while fellow Aztecs Katie Magnuson, a senior, and Aspen McPartland, a sophomore, were named to the all-tournament team. Anguelova was on fire with 15 kills and only one error for a .538 hitting percentage. Magnuson finished the match with another double-double after executing 15 kills and 19 digs. McPartland wasn't far behind with a double-double of her own after 12 kills and 14 digs.
Junior Melissa Wright tallied 46 assists, four kills and nine digs in the match against Tualne, while sophomore Robyn Gregg hammered in six aces on the night.
State finished the match with 58 kills and a .341 hitting percentage versus Tualne's 37 kills and .147 hitting percentage.
The Aztecs come home to face Seton Hall on Monday and will travel to Ohio State for the Buckeye Invitational, Sept. 14-15.
