SDSU Cross Country Earns Top-20 Finish At Stanford Invite

PALO ALTO, Calif. - The San Diego State women's cross country team finished 16th in a 25 team field at Saturday's Stanford Invitational held at the Stanford Golf Course. The event, which marked the first time this season the Aztecs have run on a 6,000-meter course, served as a tune up as the team prepares for the second half of its season.

Leading the way for the Atecs was Jennifer Stakiw, who crossed the finish line at 22:53 and in 53rd place. She was followed closely by Alica Stewart's 56th-place time of 22:56.

SDSU finished with 447 points and a space behind CSU Fullerton (425). Stanford took the meet's top spot with 24 points after having five runners finish in the top ten.

SDSU continues its season next Saturday (Oct. 6) when it travels to the Long Beach Invitational.
