Fans Urged To Arrive Early for SDSU-Falcons Games

Sept. 27, 2001

SAN DIEGO - Due to heightened security measures, officials at San Diego State and Qualcomm Stadium are urging fans to arrive early for Saturday night's Aztec game against the Air Force Academy. Kickoff is set for 8:05 p.m.

"No backpacks or ice chests will be allowed in the stadium," said San Diego State's Jim Spillers, associate athletic director for event management. "Anyone coming into the stadium could be subjected to a search. Also expect parking to take more time.

"We want everyone to enjoy the game, but we also want to be as safe as possible," he added. "Our opponent is a service academy and that makes for even more security measures."

San Diego State officials have also announced that next week's Homecoming contest with Eastern Illinois will also begin at 8:05 p.m. That kickoff was moved from 6:05 p.m. to help accommodate the Padres-Rockies game, scheduled to begin at 12:05 p.m. on Oct. 6th.
