ALBUQUERQUE - The San Diego State volleyball team continued their sweep of the Mountain West Conference with a 3-0 win over the New Mexico Lobos. The Aztecs took the Lobos in games of 32-30,30-13 and 30-27.
Sophomore Zlatina Anguelova led the Aztecs with 14 kills for a .321 hitting percentage followed closely by sophomore Aspen McPartland with 10 kills and a .471 hitting percentage. Megan Schauermann continued to amaze by amassing 10 blocks on the night, tying her career high achieved two days ago against Air Force. Senior Katie Magnuson performed on the defensive side of the net with 11 digs.
The Lobos were led offensively by Malena Thompson with 11 kills and defensively by Ashley Kirsch who tallied 12 digs.
The Aztecs registered a .347 hitting percentage and 11 total team blocks against the Lobos' .147 hitting percentage and four total team blocks.
State will return home to face the 2000 Mountain West Conference champion Colorado State Rams on Sept. 27, at 7 p.m., followed by Wyoming on the 30th. Both matches will be played at Peterson Gym on the San Diego State campus.
