Swimming Athletes Earn Academic Honors Four Aztecs named to Mountain West all-academic team
SAN DIEGO - The Mountain West Conference named four San Diego State women's swimming athletes to its 2001 all-academic team.
Honorees for the Aztecs include senior Natalie Pennell, junior Heather DeFelice and freshmen Amy Van Dyke and Hannah Ryan. DeFelice, a two-time recipient of the award, had the highest grade-point average of the four with a 3.58 followed by Van Dyke's mark of 3.23. Ryan earned a spot on the list with a 3.16 and Pennell, also a two time honoree, a 3.15.
To be elgible for selection to the academic team, a student must have completed at least one academic term at their school, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better and be a significant contributor to the team.
