Men's Golf Finishes Second At The Mountain West Conference Championship

SUNRIVER, Ore. - San Diego State junior John Lepak won medalist honors and led the Aztecs to a second place finish with an 892 at the Mountain West Conference Men's Golf Championship today on the Crosswater Course (par 72/7,193) at the Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore. This marks the best conference finish for the Aztecs since 1984, when they also placed second.

SDSU began the day one shot off the lead and finished second after shooting a 292 in the final round, two strokes behind Brigham Young (890). Colorado State, which also shot a team score of 292, placed third with an 896.

Junior John Lepak of SDSU was the individual champion with a three-day total, 219, after posting an even par 72 on the final day. Sophomore Lars Johansson turned in the next best Aztec finish in fifth with a 223. Johansson was named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Year at the conclusion of the championships.
