CORVALLIS, Ore. - The 26th-ranked San Diego State men's golf team fell four strokes short of qualifying for the NCAA Championships, placing 12th with a three-round total of 887 (+18) at the NCAA West Regional Championships Saturday at the par 72, 7,060-yard Trysting Trees Golf Course in Corvallis, Ore.
After shooting a 293 in the final round of the regional, the Aztecs fell four strokes shy of the tenth place qualifying mark for the NCAA Championships. Washington grabbed the final qualifying spot with an 883. Arizona State won the event shooting a 12-under, three-round total of 852.
Arizona State, Arizona, UC Irvine, Pacific, South Carolina, UCLA, Stanford, Oregon State, Wake Forest and Washington will advance to the NCAA Championship, May 30-June 3 in Durham, N.C.
SDSU was led by sophomore John Lieber, finishing 34th with a 222 (71-80-71). Sophomore Lars Johansson and John Lepak turned in the next best Aztec finishes tying for 38th with a 223.
