Novice Eight Wins Petite Final At PAC-10 Regatta

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. - The highlight of the San Diego State rowing team's participation in Sunday's Pacific-10 championships on Lake Natoma was a victory in the petite final of the novice eight. SDSU raced to a time of 7:39.7, finishing just ahead of Sacramento State which clocked in at 7:39.9.

The Aztecs' next best finish came in the petite final of the varsity eight event. SDSU raced to a third-place finish of 7:23.0. Western Washington won the event (7:15.0) with Sacramento State placing second.

SDSU also came away from the day with a pair of sixth-place finishes. One came in the petite final of the second varsity eight (8:07.6), the other in the grand final of the varsity four (8:21.1).

The Aztec rowing team now awaits its fate as the field for the NCAA championships will be announced Tuesday, May 15. The NCAA championships are held from May 24-27 on Lake Lanier, in Gainesville, Ga.
