FT. COLLINS, Colo. - The 65th-ranked San Diego State women's tennis team picked up its third Mountain West Conference victory in as many tries and its fourth-consecutive win overall defeating Wyoming, 7-0, Saturday at the Miramont Sports Center on the Colorado State campus.
SDSU (10-7, 3-1 MWC) did not lose a match and kept with its trend of coming on strong during doubles play with the pairs of Silvia Tornier and Lindsey Hedberg, Whitney Wells and Julie Chidley, and Katey Becker and Katja Karrento posting wins. The Aztecs have now won the doubles point in eight of their last nine matches and have a 10-2 record this season when doing so.
SDSU moved through singles play with ease as well. Hedberg defeated the Cowgirls' Jenny Bowman, 7-6 (4), 6-1, in what was Hedberg's first match at No. 1 this season. There was also excitement at the No. 4 spot where SDSU's Becker bested UW's Toni Terhaar, 6-7 (8), 7-5, 10-0.
The Aztecs will spend the night in Ft. Collins and face Colorado State tomorrow at 9 a.m.
