SDSU Rowers Participate In WIRA Championships

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. - The San Diego State women's rowing team competed in the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association championships Saturday on Lake Natoma.

The highlight of the Aztecs' competition was a first-place finish in the varsity four race. SDSU finished with a time of 7:37.0 just a second ahead of Seattle Pacific.

SDSU also clocked in second in the novice eight (7:27.8) and novice four (8:14.0).

The scarlet and black also recorded a pair of fifth-place finishes in the varsity eight (7:02.6) and second varsity eight (7:29.2) competition. Sacramento State won the varsity eight race with a time of 6:55.3. Gonzaga (7:00.3) and UC Davis (7:01.3) rounded out the top three.

Aztec rowing continues their schedule next weekend when they travel to Seattle for the Opening Day Regatta.
