SUNRIVER, Ore. - The San Diego State men's golf team is in third with a 307 (+23) after the first round of the Mountain West Conference Men's Golf Championship at the Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore.
SDSU is six strokes behind the tournament leader Colorado State (301) after the first day of competition. Brigham Young is in third with a 305. Today's round was played in 25-35 mile per hour winds with gusts up to 50 miles per hour and periodic drizzle.
Sophomore Lars Johansson and junior John Lepak lead the Aztecs tied for third with a 75. Sophomore John Lieber turned in the next best SDSU finish in 12th with a 77. James Kurtenbach of Colorado State leads the individual field at par, 72.
The second round of play will begin at 8 a.m. (PST) Tuesday morning, with the final 18 holes being played Wednesday.
