San Diego State Falls To San Jose State At The MPSF Water Polo Championship

HONOLULU - The eighth-seeded San Diego State water polo team fell to No. 5 seed San Jose State, 6-3, in the consolation bracket of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship in Honolulu at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Aztecs grabbed the early lead when senior Kelly Falcone scored the first goal of the game in the second quarter. However, after a scoreless first half SJSU responded with four goals in the third quarter and two in the fourth to win the game.

Sophomore Amber Prestegard and freshman Holly Hartzell each added a goal to the Aztec total. Freshman Ashley Zabel headed up the SDSU defense with 10 goalie saves.

San Diego State will play its final game of the championship against UC Santa Barbara, Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
