SALT LAKE CITY - No. 2 seed New Mexico prevailed over No. 1 seed San Diego State, 4-2 in the third place match at the Mountain West Conference Tennis Championship at the Snowbird Canyon Racquet Club, Saturday morning.
Seniors Adam Webster and Matt Bere claimed the only victories for the Aztecs. Webster defeated Bart Scott at the No. 3 spot, 3-6, 7-6, 6-3, while Bere defeated John Kowalski, 6-3, 6-3, at the No. 6 position.
Brigham Young claimed the 2001 MWC championship, defeating UNLV 4-0.
