SALT LAKE CITY - The No. 1 seed San Diego State men's tennis team (14-10, 5-0) fell to fourth-seeded Brigham Young, 4-1, in the semifinals of the Mountain West Conference Tournament in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the Snowbird Canyon Racquet Club Friday afternoon.
SDSU fell behind early, dropping the doubles point, 2-0. It marked the first time the Aztecs have lost the doubles point in 10 matches.
Adam Webster recorded the only win for San Diego State by defeating Eric Nyman, 6-2, 6-4, at the No. 3 singles position. Gert Vilms of BYU broke SDSU's Oliver Maiberger's 18-match winning streak by defeating him, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (4), at the No. 1 position.
The Aztecs will play second-seeded New Mexico for third place, Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
