SAN DIEGO - The No. 59 San Diego State men's tennis team (14-9, 5-0 MWC) defeated cross town rival No. 55 USD, Wednesday afternoon in its final dual match of the regular season to win its eighth-straight match.
SDSU got of to a good start winning the doubles point, 2-1. San Diego State's Adam Webster and Oliver Maiberger defeated USD's Mattias Tangegird and Juan Cerda, 9-7, at the No. 1 position. Travis Hasson and Matt Bere of SDSU defeated Ricardo Rizo and Burghardt of USD, 8-6, at the No. 2 position.
USD was able to even the match to 3-3 in singles play. Aztec junior Travis Hasson won the deciding match for San Diego State, defeating Jason Pongsrikul, 2-6, 7-6, 6-2.
The Aztecs return to action April 26-28 in Salt Lake City, Utah for the Mountain West Conference Championships.
