SAN DIEGO - The 52nd-ranked San Diego State women's tennis team extended its win streak to seven matches Saturday defeating Mountain West Conference opponent Air Force, 7-0, at the SDSU Tennis Courts. The Aztecs have now won six consecutive matches in league play, posting a 6-1 mark in the MWC and 13-7 overall.
SDSU won all its matches in straight sets again coming on strong in doubles. The pairs of Silvia Tornier and Lindsey Hedberg won at No. 1, 8-3, Whitney Wells and Katja Karrento took No. 2 by the same score and Katey Becker and Erin Polowski the 3 spot, 8-4.
Momentum carried into singles with Hedberg keeping her unbeaten conference singles streak alive with a, 6-3, 6-2, win at No. 1. She has now won four straight at that position. Tornier won her second match in as many days at the No. 2 spot, 6-4, 7-5. The Aztecs never looked back with Wells, Karrento, Becker and Erin Polowski completing the sweep.
SDSU finishes its regular season schedule next weekend with home matches against Tulsa Friday at 2 p.m. and noon Sunday with Oregon.
