Women's Tennis Wins Six In A Row

SAN DIEGO - The 52nd-ranked San Diego State women's tennis team extended its win streak to six matches Friday defeating conference opponent and 39th-ranked New Mexico, 6-1, at the SDSU Tennis Courts. The Aztecs have posted five consecutive wins in league matches.

SDSU, who moved to 5-1 in conference and 12-7 overall, won all but one match and took an early lead sweeping the doubles point. SDSU is 12-2 this season when it wins the doubles point.

SDSU expanded its lead with strong play through singles. Lindsey Hedberg remains unbeaten in conference singles play and earn her third-straight win at No. 1 defeating Natalia Alekhova, 6-0, 5-7, 6-3. The Aztecs Silvia Tornier, who sat out of singles play last weekend due to injury made her return scoring a, 6-4, 7-5, victory at No. 2. The Aztecs Whitney Wells, Katja Karrento and Katey Becker won at No. 3, 4, and 5, respectively.

The Aztecs close out the conference portion of its schedule tomorrow when they host Air Force at 10 a.m.
