STANFORD, Calif. - Junior Heather Rollo carded a 4-over par 76 to lead the San Diego State women's golf team during the opening round of play at the Peg Barnard Collegiate (par 72), Friday.
The Aztecs, who finished the first round in 10th place, combined to shoot 3-over 321, 20 strokes behind tournament leader and host school Stanford, which finished at 13-over 301.
California (304), Washington (306), San Jose State (306), Oregon (308) and San Francisco (308) round out the top five.
Aztec junior Asa Jankler and freshman Sandy Kim each shot 8-over par 80 to finish tied for 32nd. Sophomore Jennifer Hoene was SDSU's next highest finisher in 53rd with an 85.
San Francisco's Susannah Laing leads the field after firing an opening round one-under par 71. Nevada's Angie Yoon and San Jose State's Jessica Krantz are tied for second, shooting an even-par 72 on the day.
Action at the Peg Barnard Collegiate concludes tomorrow with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
