SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's tennis team upset 32nd-ranked UNLV, 5-1, Sunday afternoon at the SDSU Tennis Courts. The Aztecs improve to 9-9 overall and 3-0 in the Mounain West Conference.
SDSU grabbed the momentum early by winning the doubles point, 2-1, and went on to only drop one match in singles. Sophomore Oliver Maiberger of San Diego State, ranked 22nd in the nation, had little trouble defeating the 62-ranked Nenad Zivkovic of UNLV, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 1 singles. Maiberger is 12-0 at the No. 1 position and 14-1 overall in dual matches.
The Aztecs will continue MWC action April 7 at Air Force at 2:00 p.m. They will also play New Mexico at Air Force, April 8 at 10:00 a.m.
