Complete Invitational Division Results
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Senior Aimee Crabtree won the women's invitational pole vault competition and junior Kylie Edwards shined in the middle distance events as the San Diego State track and field team closed out the 2001 Florida Relays with a number of impressive performances Saturday.
Crabtree, who earlier this season set an SDSU school record in the pole vault by clearing 13-1 1/2, soared over 12-10 for her first meet win of the year. The only other Aztec in the event, junior Tricia Gutierrez, placed eighth with a vault of 12-0.
In the middle distance events it was junior Kyle Edwards who led the way for SDSU, just missing a personal-best in the 1500 meters and finishing second with a time of 4:27.94. Edwards came back in the 800 meters with a strong fifth-place finish, clocking a season-best 2:09.72.
Also posting a second-place finish for the Aztecs Saturday was senior Aja Frary. Frary, who took second in the heptathlon Thursday, placed second in the long jump with a leap of 19-11 3/4.
Other notable finishes were turned in by Promise Mose (sixth/400 meters), and Hoover High School alum Candace Hill (sixth/discus), whose throw of 145-11 in the discus was the sixth-best ever by an Aztec.
San Diego State returns to action on April 14th, when the Aztecs host the All-Women Invitational, a four-team quad meet, at the SDSU Sports Deck. Events begin at 10 a.m.
