Men's Tennis Claims Victory Over Nebraska

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's tennis team (6-8) prevailed in a tight match against Nebraska, 4-3, Sunday morning at Fairbanks Ranch Country Club.

Nebraska took the early lead by winning the doubles point, 2-1. The No. 1 doubles team of Oliver Maiberger and Adam Webster of SDSU claimed the only aztec victory in doubles by defeating Kai Rieke and F. Tongoona of Nebraska, 8-1. Maiberger and Webster are 4-0 in dual matches this season.

SDSU went on to win four of the six singles matches to claim the victory. Maiberger defeated Lance Mills of Nebraska, 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 1 position. This marks Maiberger's eighth-straight victory. Junior Travis Hasson of SDSU defeated Kai Rieke of Nebraska, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. Senior Matt Bere of SDSU defeated Patrick Kennedy of Nebraska, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 singles. Bere has now won five-straight. Freshman Michael Coehlo defeated Ryan Haith of Nebraska, 2-6, 7-6, 6-1, at the No. 6 position.

The Aztecs are back in action against Middle Tennessee State, Thursday, March 29 at 2:00 p.m. at the SDSU Tennis Courts.
