Women's Tennis Downs Princeton

SAN DIEGO - The 54th-ranked San Diego State women's tennis team improved its record to .500 with a 6-1 victory over Princeton Friday at the SDSU Tennis Courts. The Aztecs (6-6) have won two of thier last three matches.

SDSU again came on strong in doubles play with Lindsey Hedberg and Silvia Tornier winning at No. 1, 8-2, and Whitney Wells and Julie Chidley at No. 2, 8-5.

Momentum carried into singles play with Tornier defeating Princeton's Gailor Large, 6-2, 6-2. SDSU's Hedberg secured her second-straight win at No. 3 singles besting Priya Bhupathi, 7-5, 6-1. The Aztecs swept the remainder of singles play in straight sets.

SDSU starts conference play next weekend with three matches in three days. The team will face Brigham Young Friday, Utah Saturday and UNLV Sunday. All three matches will be held at UNLV and start a 10 a.m.
