SDSU Spring Quad Meet Final Results
SAN DIEGO - San Diego State athletes captured five events, including a sweep in the women's 100-meter dash, as the Aztecs debuted their new track and field venue atop the SDSU Sports Deck with a strong showing in the SDSU Quad Meet, Saturday.
Under mostly cloudy skies and with intermittent rain falling, San Diego State dominated the sprint events, beginning with a Melinda Smedley, Jillita Griffin and Aroline Neal 1-2-3 finish in the 100-meters.
Smedley, who placed second in the 200 meters, also led the Aztec relay teams to victories in both the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relays.
SDSU's Promise Mose, a third-place finisher in the 200 meters, wrapped up the Aztecs' strong showing in the sprints by winning the 400 meters.
San Diego State also got top-3 finishes from Jini Hogg (second in the 400), Kylie Edwards (second in the 800 and third in the 1500), Alicia Stewart (third in the 3000), Marisa Robinson (first in the 100-hurdles), Chanel Day (second in the 400-hurdles), Aja Frary and Ameerah Omar (tied for second in the high jump) and Tricia Gutierrez (tied for first in the pole vault).
San Diego State returns to action next weekend when the Aztecs travel to Tucson, Ariz., for the Willie Williams Invitational, March 16-17. SDSU's next home meet is the Aztec Invitational, Saturday March 23, on the Choc Sportsman Oval at the SDSU Sports Deck.
