SAN DIEGO (AP) - Al Faux scored 18 points and San Diego State hit 11 straight free throws in the final minute to defeat Colorado State 78-73 in a Mountain West Conference game on Saturday night.

For the only the second time in the last 16 years, San Diego State (14-13, 4-10) finished the regular season with a winning record.

The Aztecs are the No. 6 seed in the Mountain West Conference tournament and will play No. 3 Wyoming on Thursday.

Randy Holcomb finished with 17 points for San Diego State, while Chris Walton added 13 and David Abramowitz had 10.

It was Abramowitz' six free throws in the final 30 seconds that sealed the game after the Rams had pulled within two points.

John Sivesind led Colorado State (15-12, 6-8) with 18 points. Aki Palmer and Andy Birley each finished with 11 points.

Fifth-seeded Colorado State will play fourth-seeded New Mexico on Thursday.
