POWAY, Calif. - The San Diego State women's softball team picked up its second win over a ranked opponent in eight days on Sunday with a dramatic 6-5 come-from-behind win over No. 11 Michigan.
The win came in the final day of play in the Campbell/Cartier Classic at the Sportsplex USA center in Poway. Fresno State went 5-0 in the tournament and was the event's lone unbeaten team.
The Aztecs, who knocked off No. 22 Long Beach State last week, rallied from a 5-1 deficit to pick up Sunday's victory over the Wolverines. SDSU clinched the win with a three-run fifth inning to improve to 6-4 on the season.
Center fielder Janna Kovensky had three hits and drove in a run while Sarah Hershman and Kellie Nordhagen both added two hits and an RBI each. Hershman also scored twice. Five different San Diego State players drove in at least one run in the contest.
The Aztecs picked up nine hits in the contest and only one SDSU player struck out in the game.
