Women's Tennis Gets Back On Track

Feb. 16, 2001

SAN DIEGO - The 29th-ranked San Diego State women's tennis team posted a 6-1 win over Loyola Marymount Friday at the SDSU Tennis Courts. The Aztecs move to 3-2 on the year.

SDSU started off slow losing the doubles point but quickly rebounded in singles winning all six matches. Silvia Tornier started the rally defeating LMU's Andrea Lord, 6-3, 6-2, at the No. 1 spot. No. 2 singles play between the Aztecs' Lindsey Hedberg and the Lions' Angelina Zdorovitska provided some dramatics with Hedberg winning the first set, 6-2, Zdorovitska the second, 6-2, and Hedberg the final set, 6-3.

The Aztecs' lone win in doubles action came courtesy of the team of Whitney Wells and Katja Karrento who defeated LMU's Holli Freudenberg and Julie Hladik, 8-2.

SDSU continues its schedule tomorrow when it travels north to compete against UC Irvine at noon.
