LONG BEACH, Calif. - The San Diego State softball team moved to 4-1 on the year concluding a successful weekend at the Long Beach State Invitational with a 2-1 victory over Long Beach State (3-3) Sunday.
The Aztecs tied things up at a run apiece with The Beach in the bottom of the third when a Shannon Flynn single to center advanced Kellie Nordhagen home. SDSU's go ahead score came in the bottom of the fifth when Tiffany Goudy scored off a Tashie Aguinaga single to left. Junior Korin Gregory (1-1) picked up the win for the Aztecs earning a strikeout and four hits.
SDSU's second game of the afternoon versus UC Riverside was postponed due to darkness after five innings with no score.
The Aztecs' schedule continues when they host the 8th annual Campbell/Cartier Tournament Feb. 16-18 in Poway. SDSU will face Fresno State and Sacramento State on the tourney's first day.
