SAN DIEGO STATE NOTES
With tonight's victory, San Diego State snapped a 30-game road losing streak dating back to Feb. 4, 1998, when the Aztecs defeated Hawaii 76-67. The last road win prior to tonight was 1,067 days ago.
With the victory, San Diego State improves to 10-3. The 10 victories this season equal the total number of wins San Diego State had in the 58 games prior to this season. The 10 victories surpass the number of wins for the Aztecs in the 1998-99 and 1999-2000 seasons combined and are more wins than the Aztecs have posted in four of the last nine seasons.
The Aztecs have won six consecutive games, that ties for the fifth longest winning streak of the Division I era and is the longest since the Aztecs won eight straight games in December of 1984. Prior to this streak, San Diego State had gone 109 consecutive games without a three-game winning streak.
San Diego State has won its first two games in January to equal its win total in the month from the past two seasons combined when the Aztecs were 2-14 in the first month of the calendar year. The Aztecs have claimed consecutive wins in January for the first time since 1998.
STEVE FISHER claimed his 199th career victory and now has a career mark of 199-108 in his 10th full season as a head coach.
Junior forward RANDY HOLCOMB scored in double figures for the 13th consecutive game. He has the second longest streak to open an Aztec career since 1981 and is now for the ninth longest streak during the same time frame.
Junior guard AL FAUX has scored in double figures for the third consecutive game. Over the last three ball games he has averaged 20.7 points.
