San Diego, Calif.- The No. 19 San Diego State men's tennis team (1-1) only lost one set against the University of Nevada to win the match, 7-0, today at the SDSU Tennis Courts.
Junior Travis Hasson completed the sweep by defeating Nevada's Daniel Ericson in three sets (6-4, 4-6, 6-2) at the No. 3 singles position.
"I am pleased with the way our team played today," said head coach John Nelson. "I saw some things today I didn't see yesterday so, I know we're learning. The guys also looked a lot more disciplined today."
This match also served as a homecoming for former Aztec tennis player, Nevada head coach Ryan Johnston. Johnston played for coach Nelson in 1995 and then went on to become his assistant coach.
"I consider John to be my mentor," said Johnston. "And, it's been great to have the opportunity to play against him."
The Aztecs are back in action Saturday, Feb. 3 at 12:00 p.m. against Washington in Tulsa Okla.
