SAN DIEGO (AP) - Deandre Moore hit an off-balance 5-foot shot with 2.1 seconds left, lifting San Diego State to a 64-62 victory over Arizona State Saturday night.
Moore's shot was overshadowed when it appeared Arizona State's Awvee Storey hit a game-winner from inside the halfcourt line at the buzzer.
After a wild celebration, the Sundevils ran off court, but after reviewing TV replays, the referees ruled Storey released the shot after the final horn.
Arizona State coach Rob Evans was restrained by his assistants as he attempted to charge after referees.
San Diego State (5-3) matched their win total from last season, its first under Steve Fisher, when it finished 5-23. The Aztecs also beat a Pac-10 team for just the second time in the last 13 games.
Arizona State (5-2) had its five-game win streak snapped as it played its first game in two weeks.
Moore's game-winner came after Storey hit one of two free throws with 23.8 seconds left to tie the score at 62. Moore drove down the lane and was falling backward as he hit the shot.
Randy Holcomb, who scored seven straight points in the final 3:05, led the Aztecs with 22 points. Myron Epps added 13 points for San Diego State, which won despite making just 11-of-22 free throws.
Storey, limited to seven minutes in the first half due to foul trouble, led Arizona State with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Storey finished 9-for-12 from the field and scored 18 second-half points.
