SAN DIEGO (AP) - Randy Holcomb scored 15 points as San Diego State snapped a 17-game losing streak Saturday with an 80-48 victory over cross-town rival UC San Diego.
It was the season opener for both teams, and the first game for UC San Diego as a Division II school.
The Aztecs had three other players in double figures, including Marcelo Correa with 13, Myron Epps with 11, and Karlo Kovacic with 10.
Chris Walton, son of basketball Hall of Famer Bill Walton, made his collegiate debut for San Diego State. He made his only two shots and pulled down six defensive rebounds in 17 minutes.
Aric Sanders, SDSU's other freshman, made 3-of-4 shots, including back-to-back jumpers when the Aztecs went on a 12-0 run to take a 33-15 lead late in the first half.
Cole Miller and Sam Higgins each had 11 points to lead UC San Diego, which made just 11-of-41 three-pointers.
