Women's Tennis Competes At Regionals

IRVINE, Calif. - Freshman Erin Polowski earned the right to compete in the main draw of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) regional championships winning both qualifying matches Thursday at the UCI Tennis Stadium on the UC Irvine campus.

Polowski defeated UC Santa Barbara's Gaby Andrade, 7-5, 6-1, in first round play. In the second round she bested USD's Stacie Lee with a score of, 6-0, 6-1.

Six other members of the Aztec squad join Polowski in tomorrow's main draw competition. That includes sophomore Katja Karrento who squares off against top-seeded Sara Walker (UCLA). Walker is also ranked third nationally.

Tomorrow's competition gets underway at 8 a.m.
