PALO ALTO, Calif. - The San Diego State men's and women's tennis team defeated Tulsa, 25-19, after losing to South Carolina, 24-23, in the final two rounds of the 2000 WingspanBank.com/WTT National Collegiate Tennis Championship at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium on the Stanford campus. The Aztecs finished the tournament in 15th place.
In fourth round action versus Tulsa the Aztec women's doubles team of Julie Chidley and Whitney Wells defeated Jennifer DeSpain and Jana Sedevic, 6-4. On the men's singles side SDSU's Oliver Maiberger downed Steve Timperley, 6-2. Maiberger and Wells defeated Despain and Micah Zomer, 6-1, in mixed doubles.
The highlight for the Aztecs in third round competition against South Carolina was on the men's side with Maiberger defeating Seth Rose, 6-3. Maiberger and Valentino Pest defeated Guillaume Legat and Rose, 6-3, in doubles.
The SDSU women's team next competes Friday-Sunday when it hosts the SDSU Fall Classic. The men's team continues its schedule next weekend as well heading across town to USD to compete in the San Diego All College Tournament.
