Men's Soccer Falls To Drury at UNLV Coors Invitational

SAN DIEGO - Drury College scored two goals in the final four minutes to thwart an SDSU comback as the Panthers defeated the Aztecs, 4-2, in action at the UNLV Coors Invitational Sunday afternoon. The loss dropped SDSU's season record to 4-7 while Drury improved to 3-7.

San Diego State found itself down by two goals at the half, but came back to tie the game after the break. SDSU's first goal came in the 47th minute by Ralph Dartt, his first of the season with an assist from Henrik Bengtsson. The Aztecs knotted the score at 2-2 when defender Kyle Wiggs notched an unassisted goal, also his first tally of the year.

The Panthers' winning goal came in the 88th minute when Clay Couvillon beat SDSU goalkeeper Brian Barnes. They sealed the win with a goal from Trey Sebus in the final minute.

SDSU outshot Drury on the day by a 19-16 margin. Banres recorded six saves while Panther goalie Brian Lux made seven, six of which came in the first half when he denied the Aztecs on several occasions.

Next up for San Diego State is their Mountain Pacific Sports Federation opener against Cal State Fullerton at the SDSU Sports Deck on Friday, Oct. 6 at 4:00 p.m. The game will be the nightcap of a men's-women's doubleheader with the women facing Air Force at 1:00 p.m. In between games, there will be a dedication ceremony for SDSU's' new soccer/track facility.
