TUCSON, Ariz. - San Diego State quarterback Jack Hawley is expected to make a full recovery from the stabilized fractured vertebrae he suffered in the Aztecs' loss to Illinois on Sept. 9th. However, the El Segundo senior is not expected to return to the Aztec lineup this season.
The recovery is expected to be at least a four-month process. Hawley has used his redshirt season and chances for another year of eligibility at San Diego State (being granted by the NCAA) appear slim. Hawley did accompany the Aztecs to Tucson for Saturday night's contest with the University of Arizona.
Santee sophomore Lon Sheriff will make his first career start against the Wildcats. True freshman Jon Stoner, a native of Glendale, Ariz., is listed second on the depth chart for the weekend contest. Sheriff will be the third different Aztec quarterback to start for SDSU in the last 13 games.
