Tollner was named SDSU's head football coach in December of 1993, and has since led the Aztecs to three winning campaigns and the school's first post-season bowl game in seven years in 1998. That same year he was voted Western Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.
But Tollner's football experience isn't limited to the college game. He joined the Buffalo Bills in the 1987 season where he tutored the club's receivers for two years under Head Coach Marv Levy. Then in 1989 he became the offensive coordinator for the San Diego Chargers before heading to the Los Angeles Rams for the 1992 and 1993 seasons as a quarterbacks coach.
