San Diego - The San Diego State women's soccer team dropped to 1-1 after losing a 1-0 decision to Loyola Marymount at SDSU Sports Deck on Tuesday.
The lone goal of the game was scored when LMU's Allison Marra headed in a cross from Myka Peck on a set piece at the 19:54 mark.
The Aztecs had their chances to equalize, but were unable to cash them in. SDSU controlled the action early in the second half, when midfielder Elicia Petre found herself with a good look from inside the penalty box. Petre's shot was deflected to midfielder Fay deLeon, who took a second shot that sailed wide. Minutes later, midfielder Jane Specht had a similar chance, but was unable to capitalize.
Less than three minutes after the Lions' goal, the Aztecs got a scare when goalkeeper Linnea Qui?ones collided with LMU defender Stacy Roberts. The hit occured as Qui?ones left her feet to punch away a cross from the left side. With both players in the air, Roberts ran into the left side of Qui?ones' face. Qui?ones was forced to leave the game after the collision and did not return. However, she is expected to return to the lineup when SDSU plays Navy at noon on Saturday in Berkeley.
