Three Aztecs Named To All-Conferecne Baseball Squad

SAN DIEGO - San Diego State second baseman Matt Ricardy and catcher Brandon Rogers have been named to the inaugural All-Mountain West Conference baseball team. In addition, outfielder Billy Montgomery earned second team honors.

Ricardy .346 and leads the team in doubles with 20 and runs scored with 54. His doubles total ranks as the sixth-best single-season total in Aztec history.

Rogers, a local product out of Grossmont High, has emerged as the top catcher in the Conference this season both offensively and defensively. He is hitting .321 with 12 doubles and 38 runs batted in. He has a fielding percentage of .977 overall and .986 in league play.

Montgomery is a speedy outfielder who also has the ability to get on base. He leads the Conference in stolen bases with 26 and is hitting .371 with a .442 on-base percentage as the Aztecs' leadoff hitter. His batting average is best among the SDSU regulars the team as are his 72 hits and four triples.

The Aztecs conclude their 2000 season this week as they head to Las Vegas to compete in the Mountain West Conference Tournament.
