SDSU Men's Tennis Finishes Season With A Victory

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's tennis team finished their season in triumph against cross-town rival University of San Diego, 7-0, in today's match at the USD courts this afternoon. SDSU improved their record to 14-6 overall and 3-1 in Mountain West Conference matches. Today's win is SDSU's 13th win in the last 15 matches.

The 28th ranked Aztecs looked hot in all singles positions. Alex Waske played No. 1 defeating USD's Mattias Tangefjord, 6-2, 6-4. Waske finishes the season 11-1 overall. Dominating the number two spot was Oliver Maiberger, finishing the season 19-0 in dual matches, including a win over Ricardo Rizo, 1-6, 6-1, 6-2. Adam Webster conquered in the No. 3 position against Sean Cooper 7-6, 4-6, 6-3.

Waske and Webster clinched the win in the number one spot in doubles, 8-6. The freshman team of Maiberger and Valentino Pest, crushed USD's Rizo/Maldenado, 8-0.

The Aztecs travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to compete in the inaugural Mountain West Conference Championships beginning April 21 through April 24.
